Just Engaged.

just engaged

So as some of you may or may not have heard… As I’ve only mentioned it around 17 times a day… but I recently got engaged!! As wedding planning is a big part of what I do for a living I thought what better idea to share with my readers all my planning top tips, ideas, mood boards, check lists etc… although I will have to be a little careful with how much I’m sharing; I can’t be giving too much away just yet. Although let’s just take a back step for the moment and start where it all began… our engagement.

It was our anniversary and we were planning a lovely day trip to the spa; I’m a sucker for a Jacuzzi and a steam room so the day was already on to a winner with me. We went to the Bannatyne Spa and it was beautiful. To start off we had an hour or so just relaxing in the spa, went for a swim, chilled in the Jacuzzi, sweat out all the rubbish in the Steam Room/Sauna etc. Then we went up to the treatment rooms for our back massages. The one really good thing I found with this spa was that we could have our massages together as a couple; I’ve usually always been on my own and taken to a seperate room for my treatment so it was lovely to be able to enjoy them together as a couple; this may not be for everyone but for me it just added something really lovely. We then had lunch in the spa cafe and went for one final chill in the Relaxation Room which is a really tranquil space with relaxing music, heated loungers and heated water beds. We had such a lovely afternoon… and I was completely non the wiser.

We then popped home to get showered and ready for the evening ahead. Anthony told me that as it was our anniversary we would be recreating our first ever date; which I thought was adorable in itself. So once we were ready we headed out to the cocktail bar where we had originally gone for a few drinks; sat in the same booth and laughed about how nervous we both were and looked back on the amazing time we had spent with each other so far. I can’t remember the exact name of the Cocktail bar we went to (oops) but it is amazing – the cocktails are delicious, the staff are great and the atmosphere is fab. But still… non the wiser.

Next we headed off to the restaurant that we also went to on our first date. Anthony had arranged with the restaurant for us to be sat at the exact same table and for there to be a bottle of bubbly, a bunch of roses and love heart sprinkles on the table for when we arrived. My heart melted… yep, I’m a hopeless romantic. Now, some of you may be wondering how I hadn’t picked anything up by this point but I was honestly so oblivious. I had always told myself I would 100% know when the big question was going to be popped just by the way Anthony acts but he was as cool as a cucumber so I expected nothing.

So we had a starter and a main each and I was stuffed! The food was so nice, I literally didn’t stop until I thought I was going to burst. Then Anthony pipes up, “Let’s get a dessert, I really fancy some chocolate.” My initial reaction was ‘oh my… I’m a little full babe’. But he was insistent so when the waiter came to take our main plates he turned to him and said “Can we have a Chocolate Brownie to share, please?” Oh… so that’s how it is, is it? First you force me to have a dessert and now I don’t even get to look at the menu… however, he reassured me that it was the best on the menu. And who can argue with a warm Chocolate Brownie?!

The moment of truth was upon us… still with me being blissfully unaware. You know how a lot of couples have a little song that remind you of each other etc; well a few minutes later our song started playing in the background. Well, I thought, what a coincidence. Then the waiter came with the worlds biggest plate for such a small dessert! It was literally at the last second when I realised what was happening… but this was placed in front of me and it was a little hard to miss!

engaged

He said a few words that I will keep to myself but obviously I said yes. It was such a special moment and one that I will remember forever. The day the man of my dreams asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.

I appreciate not everyone is as soppy and romantic as me and my Italian, but I love my engagement story so much I felt the need to share it with the world. I can’t promise there wont be more soppy-ness to come on this blog but I can promise to share all my wedding planning experiences with you. So here goes… I’M EXCITED!
